Tips For Auto Safety On Family Outings
by Camian Veiture

Many times, when we take that planned road trip with the
kids everything seems to be a rush. So much to sort out
before we leave, and - depending on the age of the kids -
in trip entertainment to sort out... There are some things
that we should never let slip out minds however, since the
are simple and increase the safety of our family.

Before even worrying about the auto, the first priority is
a driver check up. Whoever is going to be taking care of
the driving has to be well enough to make the journey
safely. If your driver is tired out, has not got the
spectacles that they need or are on sleep-inducing
medication then it is probably a very good idea to put off
the trip until the driver is fit.

The next thing to do is to make sure the vehicle is up to
the job. A lot of newer automobiles do not have many parts
that the owner is able to check, but there are some things
that you still need take responsibility for.

Make sure the pressure is appropriate in the tires.
Sometimes a fully loaded car will call for slightly
different pressures. Incorrectly inflated tire can make a
vehicle unstable and increase the risk of unpredictable
behavior.

Have someone help you check all the bulbs by standing and
checking while you press the reverse gear and the
footbrake. If you are checking these things alone you can
check your lights from their reflection in the garage door.
Check the windshield washers for water and if there are
other things that they suggest in your auto manual, do
these too.

It does not matter if you recently had the automobile
serviced since little things can happen anytime, even
driving home from the auto shop.

When everyone is ready to go make sure that everyone is
wearing their seatbelts, whether they are sitting in the
front or the back seats, as they do make a lifesaving
difference. Tests show that in a crash, if the seatbelts
are not securely fastened, an adult sitting in the front
seat can be killed by the impact of even a small child
propelled to the front from the back seat. If the child is
very young a child seat should be purchased.

People do really snooze and the wheel and cause wrecks.
Tired feelings tend to approach us gradually, so if you
think you feel them coming on, call a halt. Longer journey
may need a planned motel stop off. Those of us who rarely
drive long distance are likely to think we can manage much
more than we really can. Even if it may cost a little more
to stop and you may lose a day at your destination, it is
by far the best idea.
